Setting up a Wordpress blog (Part 2)

Okay today M! continue the tutorial on how to get a self-hosted Wordpress blog without spending a cent for domain name and hosting. First you have to log in to both of your free hosting and domain name company. Read my previous post to obtain a free hosting and domain name

Next, you have to check the availability of your domain name in the domain name company. Choose a name

that you like or a name that related to the niche market of your blog. For this tutorial M! choose “sitefortest” click check availability and make sure it is Free sometime the result shows available name but you have to pay for it , it means the name is very popular. So M! suggest you act fast or you will not be able to get the name that you desire.

Once you the name you’ve choosen is available, click “Continue to registration”.

Hooray now you got a free domain name!

Now go to your free hosting company (don’t close the domain name’s site tab), and create a new hosting account . Click create new on the upper side of you dash board.

Enter the name you registered before.

If you success you’ll get this message.

Click “Back to accounts list” and tadaa.. you have a new hosting.

Now click “go the cPanel”, and as you can see there is a  message

“Your domain is not yet pointing our server, so services such as FTP, Website Builder or File Manager may not work. You need to update nameservers to ns01.000webhost.comns02.000webhost.com for your domain. This warning will be removed once your domain will start resolving to our server (24-48 hours after nameserver update). How to update nameservers?”

It means that you have created a hosting but not set up the domain name. Now copy the ns01.000webhost.com and ns02.000webhost.com and go to your domain name company site and on the left site of your account there is a manage domain link and click it. Then click set up like in the picture below.

If you click the set up, you’ll be brought to the DNS setup page, click the “Manage DNS”

Now you paste the nameservers to the right place, like in the picture shown. And then another message saying it’s done.

This is the page if you have correctly done the job…

..and it’s done it may take up to 48 hours for your domain name to resolving to the hosting server. So why don’t you relax until that time come. Take a shower or go out for a picnic. After 48 hours your hosting is ready to be install with Wordpress.

if you have anything unclear, please don’t hesitate to ask. M!’ll try to ask what he knows about this as much as he knows 8)

To be continue…
